The Dragons and Gates of the Dragon?
The US version mentioned dragons a handful of times, but never went into detail. The most we got comes from Major Arcana, where both Strength and The Devil are apparently quite knowledgeable about dragons. The dragons were apparently one of the "old races" from before the evolution of humanity and the Fall of Orichalka. Like Nephilim they're composed of the five elements, but that's where the similarities end. They're bestial monsters that Strength Knights set out to hunt when discovered, while The Devil venerates them.
Strength and The Devil believe in the existence of an entity or force known as The Dragon, among other names (e.g. The Beast), of which the dragons are manifestations. Strength fights it as an eternal enemy, while The Devil worships and emulates it. (One issue of Chaosium Digest gave The Devil the goal of becoming dragons themselves!)
Both are aware of the existence of sacred sites known as "Gates of the Dragon," where the power of the Dragon is closest to the surface of the Earth. Other Arcana believe these merely to be unpredictable Plexi and other odd variations.
In the French...
In the French version, this is called DraKaon and the various theories put forward by Strength in the US version are confirmed as fact and accepted by everyone. The DraKaon are KaIm who turned themselves into monsters in ancient times, continuing to exist in some form and spawning the various Dragon-Effects (renamed Elemental Beasts in the US version).
Another difference in the French version is that all Elemental Beasts can attack Nephilim to drain their Ka. This causes a Ka-imbalance known as draconisation. (The Temperance section in Major Arcana mentions "Ka-imbalance" as a condition Nephilim may suffer but doesn't provide rules.)
In the French, Strength developed a unique fighting style known as Dracomachie ("dragon fighting") to battle these creatures. It is divided into three levels of mastery: the first deals with predicting and weakening, the second with dominating and capturing, the third with transforming the beasts into weapons and tattoos for the Nephilim! (Major Arcana gave Strength the far less impressive arcane techniques of Khaiba resistance and reducing Khaiba by fighting manifestations of The Beast.)
More information may be found in the Codex des Nephilim, Palimpseste #5, Vision-Ka #5, here and here.
My ideas...
I'm currently translating the third edition of the French, so I'm definitely adapting Dracomachy into a Strength Technique.
In case it's ever necessary, I will be adapting the more detailed rules for adjudicating the life cycle of Beasts. I'm not going to give all Beasts the ability to drain Ka from Nephilim, but for certain Beasts (e.g. the Ghost Wyrm) it will be a potential danger. One idea I'm considering is that proximity to Dragon's Gates boosts the power of Beasts, allowing them to develop new maneuvers like draining Ka.
One interesting oddity in the US rules is that various Beasts are described as having physiological needs, such as the Hemogobblyn draining blood, the Ghoul consuming human flesh to survive, the Stymphalian Birds having a voracious appetite human flesh, or the Dogs of the Other World going without food or rest. I'll need to address in any expanded rules on their life cycles...
